2015 Classic Wines Auction Set for March 7
Annual fundraiser features top winemakers and a BMW i8 plug-in hybrid
PORTLAND, Ore. – Tickets are on sale for the 31st annual Classic Wines Auction (CWA), to be held in Portland on Saturday, March 7, 2015. Seating is limited for the auction so Portlanders are encouraged to buy their tickets now.
The black-tie gala celebrates regional and international wines while raising money for Portland-area nonprofits. This year’s event, takes place at the Oregon Convention Center’s Portland Ballroom, 777 N.E. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Portland. The evening begins at 5 p.m. with wine tasting, chef presentations and a silent auction. The live auction starts at 7 p.m., along with a five-course menu pairing internationally renowned wines with regional cuisine.
Last year’s auction raised a record $3.4 million, with more than 950 wine and food enthusiasts, business and community leaders, and philanthropists in attendance. Benefit partners for the 2015 auction include Metropolitan Family Service (MFS), New Avenues for Youth, Friends of the Children–Portland, YWCA Clark County, and the Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel.

A commemorative Elizabeth Chambers Cellar 2013 Pinot Noir magnum (1.5 liters) celebrates the 2015 Classic Wine Auction. Limited to only 150 bottles, each features one of three etched butterfly designs. A set of three is $500; individual magnums are $200 each and are available at the event.
The 2015 live auction centerpiece will be the much-coveted 2015 BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car, courtesy of presenting sponsor Kuni Automotive. With a suggested retail value starting at $136,500, the i8 features 357 horsepower, a 0 to 60 acceleration in 4.2 seconds, and a top speed of 155 MPH. The car’s light-weight composite exterior is made from carbon fiber threads manufactured in Moses Lake, WA.
