PORTLAND, Ore. – The Classic Wines Auction presented Metropolitan Family Service (MFS) with a check for $600,248 this week at a presentation ceremony downtown. This year’s auction raised nearly $3.2 million for five benefiting charities in Portland and Southwest Washington.
The money will be used by MFS to help provide:

- Financial education for 300 adults, including 140 working parents who also received low-interest car loans to help them access work,
- Access to food for families in need through seven food pantry sites serving more than 28,000 people annually,
- Classroom mentoring and reading instruction for 279 young students through AARP Experience Corps mentor teams, and
- More than 260,000 healthy meals and snacks for students living in low-income communities.
The other four charities—New Avenues for Youth, Friends of the Children–Portland, YWCA Clark County and Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel—will receive checks in the coming weeks.
